Old Young's Kitchen

We visited the Swan valley in Perth for wine tasting and we decided to make a reservation for lunch at the Old young’s Kitchen since it was the most recommended restaurant. What I can say is the customer service here is about 100% great. The food was ok. Not extraordinary as we expected as all the dishes we opted for lacked a little flavor, maybe we made bad choices, but the cocktails were crisp. The atmosphere was amazing. Big enough space to host a number of people for lunch or dinner. We also did a gin tasting after lunch on the next door, and got some T-shirt’s, a bottle of gin-gin-gin which is the best gin they had with an history, and other things souvenirs. I highly recommend. Overall great experience..I’d definitely come back if I happen to visit Perth, Australia again!

Absolutely beautiful Father’s Day set menu. We didn’t want the welcome cocktail which they replaced with a glass of delicious bubbles. All the dishes were to share and there was plenty to go round. Food started to come out soon after we sat down. Dishes came out in pairs and seemed to compliment each other. The service was attentive without hovering. The shift manager could tell something had annoyed us regarding a shutter blind. She straight away apologised and rectified the situation. I have been here before and enjoyed it as much as I did last time. I will definitely go back. Highly recommend!!!

Atmosphere and service were good. Menu looked fun. We had the sourdough, udon, baby carrots and dark choc dessert. Unfortunately, the food was not tasty. There was supposed to be strawberry gum in one of the dishes which couldnt not be tasted at all. Overall, general flavour was lacking. The dessert was good though. As per pics the food was very well presented, however, the taste and cost really didn't match it as much as I would love to say it did. Maybe it was just a bit of an off day given the previous more positive reviews

Went on a sunday for a birthday lunch had a great time good was good amazing ambience as they say their cocktails were good. We were recommended some amazing cocktails by the server. A very warm and great service. I wish there were more options in deserts. Everything else was amazing. We dint love the udon as much as the other dishes.

After hearing rave reviews about the establishment, I made a reservation for 11 pax for lunch and was informed by Old Young’s kitchen that groups of 10 or more will have to go on to their $79 per head Feed Me Menu, which takes you through a select shared style menu over 4 savoury courses, to try about 8 different dishes. Having had good experiences with “feed me” menus at other establishments and also being given no other choices. we accepted their proposal. Upon arrival at the restaurant, I asked for a rough menu as to what was to be served that afternoon and was told that there wasn’t one, and that the selection of dishes to be served was left up to the chef. No enquiry about any dishes we would have liked to try etc. For 11 adults, we were served the following dishes: 1. Olives x 3 servings. 2. Sourdough bread x 3 servings of 4 pcs each. 3. Beetroot, cottage cheese, apple, burnt butter crumb x 3 servings 4. Crocodile chorizo x 3 servings. 5. Emu meat pastrami x 3 servings. 6. Mussels x 3 servings. 7. Steamed greens (which was essentially stir fried kailan) x 3 servings 8. Lamb x 6 servings (without an option to have selected fish or any of the other mains as an alternative) Having frequented other establishments with similar feed me menus, I’d like to think that we had a rough standard for comparison and left the meal rather disappointed with the quality and quantity of food served for the price that we were charged. In terms of bang for buck, it would have made more sense for me to have booked two separate table bookings, where we would then be able to select the dishes we would have liked instead. On balance, the price that was charged for the “feed me” menu did not commensurate with the quality of food and portions served. I’d highly recommend against the feed me menu, or else be forewarned that you may leave completely dissatisfied / ripped off.
